When the 49ers RB Frank Gore suffered a hip injury at the end of the season Monday night against Arizona, the 49ers lost to a productive running backs in the league.
Through 11 games this season, Gore finished in fifth place - behind Arian Foster, Jamaal Charles, Adrian Peterson and Peyton Hillis (!)-- in scrimmage yards with 1305, and had scored five goals.
Without Gore, the San Francisco offence is going to have to turn to Brian Westbrook, the 31-year-old veteran who had scarcely been used this season, carrying the ball five times for nine yards all season prior to Monday night's 23 carries for 136 yards against the Arizona.
Durability has been a concern with Westbrook throughout his career, but he's always been productive when he's played, averaging 4.6 yards per carry with .58 touchdowns per game.
Westbrook does not need to be sustainable is a good season finale. If he can do with the primary task in five games, have written a 235-pound rookie Anthony Dixon, a short sale situations, Westbrook could be a valuable playoff performer in the 49ers to run the place.
...what are you expecting on it?
